Excel Inflatable boat review.

19th September 2005

Hi Terry,

Below is a short report for your advertising, I always thought these were written by employees of the company, now I know!

We found our Excel 290 on the Excel web site. At first we were a bit nervous about purchasing it as it seemed to be a lot cheaper than other dinghies of equivalent size and spec. However, after talking to someone at Excel we decided to go ahead and spend our money. The dinghy arrived and we rushed to try it out. As it was raining and we didn't want to get it wet, we blew it up in the living room! Unfortunately, we didn't get far, as the oars kept getting caught in the curtains and the sofa. It was huge! We were very impressed by the quality of the thing! It came with 2 seats, great for keeping your bum dry in waves, the material seems very sturdy, the inflatable floor was impressive, and it didn't take long to blow up.

Our first venture out was in a marina. We stuck a 4 HP engine on the back and off we went. For safety reasons, I can't tell you how many people we managed to squeeze in, but no-one wanted to get left behind. Six of us still managed to keep our feet dry!

Since then, the dinghy has been used for various things, including a bbq seat on the beach. We've used it all season and it looks as good as new!

Basically its fab for the price! I've experienced dinghies whose valves decide to blow off 1/2 way to the beach, wet feet from floppy floors and wet bums from waves washing over the tubes - not with an Excel dinghy though!
